Floral Designa
Originally built in the 1950s this 2,300 square foot jewel was one of the original Portuguese Bend area beach houses. Its total renovation and redesign, begun in 1999 by its current owner, continues to this day. During a somewhat wild and wooly period of local history known as “Days of Pompeii,” when lots were auctioned off and then exchanged among homeowners to suit individual home site needs, this house was moved, piece by piece, from its original location in the slide area to its present spot high on the cliffs overlooking the Portuguese Bend Beach Club.

As you move through natural vegetation of Mexican style front garden, into the colorful, art-filled interior rooms and finally out onto the sun-splashed deck you will be treated to a multi-sensory banquet of contemporary Southern California and Mexican folk art, elegantly rustic, eclectic home design, salty breezes, surf sounds and a drop-dead gorgeous sand-and-waves view.

For the owner, a local artist and collector, this is not only a dream-come-true beach house from which to enjoy an outdoor lifestyle but a working studio and gallery space.

Watching red tail hawks and pelicans soaring by the kitchen window, dolphins playing in the waves below and grey whales on their annual migration to and from Baja Mexico are just a few of the extra perks that come with living in this magnificent beach setting.
